Chapter 1 Summary – A Court of Mist and Fury – Nightmares and Shadows of the Past
Feyre vomits in the bathroom, tormented by nightmares that have haunted her since her time Under the Mountain. Although Tamlin sleeps beside her, he remains unaware of her nights of torment. Three months have passed since Amarantha’s fall, but Feyre is still trapped in memories of blood and pain. Her immortal body, a gift from the High Lords, is now a prison she barely understands. She has shattered dishes, doors, and valuable objects with her newfound strength. The dark tattoo on her left hand, a witness to the bargain she made with Rhysand, watches her silently. Rhys has not appeared since that night, but his presence lingers in her mind. Tamlin and Lucien avoid mentioning Rhysand, but Feyre cannot forget him. As she tries to live with Tamlin and adapt to her new immortal existence, Feyre feels that her human heart, filled with darkness, continues to taint her immortal soul.
Chapter 2 Summary – A Court of Mist and Fury – Prohibitions and Imprisonment in Spring
Feyre insists on helping the nearby village, but Tamlin forbids it, claiming it is dangerous. Although the Spring Court is rebuilding, Tamlin remains obsessed with protecting her. Lucien, ever loyal, warns Feyre not to push Tamlin, but she grows frustrated with her confinement. Tamlin goes hunting, leaving Feyre trapped in the mansion, wrapped in luxurious dresses she despises. Ianthe, the High Priestess, becomes her only company and support. Ianthe, Tamlin’s childhood friend, plans the wedding and treats Feyre as if she were a goddess blessed by the Cauldron. However, Feyre feels that her freedom is fading behind layers of silk and expectations. Tamlin promises that everything will get better after the wedding, but Feyre begins to wonder if she can endure an eternity trapped in a role that does not reflect her true self.
Chapter 3 Summary – A Court of Mist and Fury – Lies, Fears, and Silence that Postpone the Truth
Lucien takes Feyre to the village to show her that her presence unsettles the inhabitants, who see her as Feyre Cursebreaker. When she tries to help, everyone refuses her aid, reminding her that the debt has been paid. Feyre discovers that during Amarantha’s reign, the people of the Spring Court were locked in underground camps, suffering horrors they now try to forget. Lucien explains that Tamlin keeps her confined out of fear of losing her, as any enemy could use her against him. Although Feyre understands his fear, she feels that she is losing her essence. Lucien asks her to be patient, but Feyre feels the weight of an infinite existence, trapped in a gilded cage where her immortal soul continues to wither. As Tamlin tries to maintain control, Feyre feels her spirit fading more each day.
Chapter 4 Summary – A Court of Mist and Fury – Guests, Forced Smiles, and an Impending Wedding
The days leading up to the wedding are exhausting for Feyre, who endures endless dinners, parties, and encounters with the guests. Her smile is a mask as Ianthe takes care of all the ceremony details. Although Tamlin assures her that it will all be over soon, Feyre feels suffocated by the pressure and weight of expectation. Ianthe, with her serene presence, seems to be her only solace, but even the priestess has her own interests. During one of the evenings, Feyre relives her encounter with the Wyrm, feeling terror and anguish as if she were Under the Mountain again. The nightmares torment her, leaving her restless and fearful of the wedding. Despite everything, Feyre continues forward, hoping that her union with Tamlin will bring peace to her wounded heart. However, deep down, she senses that something is terribly wrong.
Chapter 5 Summary – A Court of Mist and Fury – Rhysand’s Intervention and the Breaking of the Vow
On her wedding day, Feyre walks toward Tamlin, feeling that she is about to make a terrible mistake. Every step toward the altar is a weight that drowns her. As the red petals, like drops of blood, surround her, Feyre silently pleads for help. When she is about to break her vow, Rhysand interrupts the ceremony, stopping everything. Amid Tamlin’s fury and the confusion of the guests, Rhys demands to claim the bargain Feyre made with him Under the Mountain. Despite Feyre’s pleas, Tamlin allows Rhys to take her, fearful of breaking the agreement. In the blink of an eye, Rhysand whisks her away to the Night Court, where Feyre is once again held captive, far from Tamlin. Now, as she gazes at the stars from Rhys’s residence, Feyre realizes that her destiny has just changed forever.
Chapter 6 Summary – A Court of Mist and Fury – Dangerous Lessons and Mor’s Arrival
Feyre fights against Rhysand, refusing to learn to read or protect her mind. Rhys insists, mocking and provoking her, claiming that she needs to control her abilities and her mind. Filled with rage, Feyre discovers that she possesses a strength she cannot control, easily bending a fork. Rhys reminds her that she was created with the power of seven High Lords and suggests that she may have unknown abilities. During the tense meal, Morrigan, Rhys’s cousin, appears—dazzling and warm—breaking the tension and embracing Feyre sincerely. Mor, strong and confident, makes it clear that she does not fear Rhys and offers her friendship to Feyre. Rhysand, amused but attentive, announces that the reading and shielding lessons will begin soon. Feyre, bewildered by Mor’s arrival and Rhys’s constant insistence, begins to question her own strength and hidden power.
Chapter 7 Summary – A Court of Mist and Fury – The Art of Protecting the Mind and an Unbreakable Bond
Rhys forces Feyre to begin her reading lessons and build mental shields. At first, Feyre struggles with her fears and resentments, but little by little, she manages to form a diamond wall in her mind, protecting herself from Rhys’s intrusion. Although she still hates him for what he did Under the Mountain, Feyre cannot help but notice that Rhys seems concerned about something much bigger. The sentences Feyre is forced to read are provocative, increasing her annoyance toward Rhys. During an intense practice session, Rhys demonstrates how someone can enter her mind and manipulate her thoughts, making her understand the importance of mental protection. In the end, Feyre successfully expels Rhys from her mind and raises a strong shield. Exhausted, she begins to realize that learning to control her abilities might be more important than she imagined.
Chapter 8 Summary – A Court of Mist and Fury – The Map of Prythian and the Threat of War
Rhys takes Feyre to a tower where he shows her a map of Prythian and Hybern. Feyre, not fully understanding, senses the tension in Rhys as he reveals that the King of Hybern plans to invade the continent and tear down the wall that protects the humans. Rhys explains that Amarantha was merely an experiment and that Hybern is now preparing something far worse. He warns that if they do nothing, war will be inevitable and could destroy the human world. Rhys confesses that he needs her help, not only to learn to control her powers but also to track something that could change the course of the war. Shocked, Feyre begins to realize that her role might be far greater than she ever imagined and that, without training, her power could become her greatest weakness.
Chapter 9 Summary – A Court of Mist and Fury – Rhys’s Proposal and a Dormant Power in Feyre
Rhysand offers Feyre a choice: be a pawn in the Spring Court or become a weapon to protect her family and Prythian. He explains that the powers she possesses, granted by the seven High Lords, could rival or even surpass his own if she learns to control them. Rhys warns that if Hybern attacks, Feyre might be the only one standing between the king and her human family. Feyre, caught between her love for Tamlin and the responsibility she feels toward the world, decides to think it over. During that week, she practices her lessons and begins to understand her abilities better. However, when Rhys leaves to handle urgent matters, Feyre begins to feel lonely and trapped in a gilded cage, wondering if she will ever truly be free.

He begins to interrogate her about everything she saw and heard in the Night Court. Feyre tells him about the sacked temple in Cesere and Hybern’s possible alliance with other clans. Terrified by the possibility that Feyre possesses immense abilities, Tamlin forbids her from training or exploring her powers. Despite Feyre’s pleas to prepare for war, Tamlin insists on keeping her safe, controlling her more than ever. The tension between them grows, and Feyre feels suffocated in the cage that Tamlin has created to protect her. As the shadow of war looms, Feyre begins to understand that perhaps Tamlin is incapable of seeing the true threat that approaches.
Chapter 11 Summary – A Court of Mist and Fury – Silence and Rhysand’s Offer
Feyre returns to the Night Court after another week at the Spring Court, marked by indifference and pain. Rhys confronts her after noticing her suffering and asks her to accept his help to prevent Prythian from experiencing the same horrors he endured during his years under Amarantha. During breakfast, tension rises as Rhys tries to get Feyre to talk about her fears, but she refuses. Rhys leaves books for her to pass the time and distances himself, giving her space. When he returns, Feyre finds temporary comfort in reading, feeling less lonely among fictional characters. Tension resurfaces when Rhys insists on helping her heal, provoking an emotional outburst from Feyre that results in a burst of power, revealing her latent abilities. Exhausted and lost, Feyre accepts the food Rhys offers her, but the weight of the past continues to oppress her.
Chapter 12 Summary – A Court of Mist and Fury – Tamlin’s Trap
Feyre is confined to the Spring Court mansion by Tamlin, who overprotects her after an unknown threat arises in his lands. Lucien tries to convince Tamlin to let Feyre train and control her powers, but Tamlin refuses, fearing that other High Lords might discover her abilities. Feyre suffers in silence, trapped in the monotonous routine of the mansion, surrounded by servants who barely look at her. Ianthe, manipulative and cunning, suggests dark alternatives to control Feyre. Lucien, powerless, promises to try to help her, but Tamlin’s decision remains unyielding. Feyre’s desperation grows as her freedom diminishes, and her mind fills with darkness and emptiness, recalling the prison she endured Under the Mountain. The tension culminates when Tamlin denies her request to accompany him, sealing the house with a magical shield that traps her, unleashing Feyre’s terror and pent-up fury.
Chapter 13 Summary – A Court of Mist and Fury – Rhysand’s Rescue and Refuge
Trapped and caught in a spiral of despair, Feyre releases a wave of darkness that paralyzes the Spring Court guards. Alis, terrified, calls for Mor, who arrives just in time to rescue her. Determined and strong, Mor takes Feyre away from the mansion, transporting her to the safety of the Night Court. Rhys welcomes her, both furious and relieved, after Mor manages to extract her without violating the court’s rules. When Feyre awakens, she feels the weight of relief but also the uncertainty of her future. Rhys offers her the option to stay in the Night Court as long as she wants, and although Feyre knows she will have to return to Tamlin one day, the thought of going back to that prison fills her with terror. She accepts Rhys’s offer, and with his characteristic sarcasm, he proposes that she work for him to keep herself occupied. The promise of freedom and understanding that Rhys offers begins to awaken a spark in Feyre, although her heart remains divided.
Chapter 14 Summary – A Court of Mist and Fury – The City of Starlight
Feyre wakes up in the Night Court and discovers Velaris, a hidden and prosperous city that remained untouched by Amarantha. Rhys explains that Velaris is protected by powerful spells and that its existence is a secret to the rest of Prythian. The city is full of life, art, and freedom, a stark contrast to the darkness Feyre has endured. Although fascinated by Velaris’s beauty, Feyre feels disconnected, unable to find solace in this safe place. Rhys shows her the Rainbow, the artists’ quarter, and describes the cultural richness of the city, but Feyre cannot feel the excitement that once would have thrilled her. The city, which should be a refuge, becomes a reminder of the pain that still consumes her. Rhys invites her to dinner at the House of Wind to meet his Inner Circle and decide if she wants to work with them.
Chapter 15 Summary – A Court of Mist and Fury – The Flight to the House of Wind
Rhys takes Feyre to the House of Wind for a dinner with his Inner Circle. Although afraid of flying, Feyre agrees to accompany him, knowing that avoiding the meeting will not change anything. As they fly, Rhys shares memories of his childhood with his Illyrian mother, who accompanied him on his nighttime flights over Velaris. Rhys’s nostalgia contrasts with Feyre’s uncertainty about her place in this new world. Upon arriving at the top of the mountain, Rhys offers her the option to return if she feels uncomfortable, assuring her that she is in control of her destiny. Although filled with doubts, Feyre recognizes that she can no longer live trapped by fear and despair. As she steps into the House of Wind, Feyre prepares to meet Rhys’s allies and take the next step toward an uncertain future.
Chapter 16 Summary – A Court of Mist and Fury – The Meeting with the Inner Circle
Feyre meets Rhysand’s closest allies at the House of Wind. Cassian, commander of Rhys’s armies, greets her with bold jokes, while Azriel, the mysterious spymaster, offers a cold and distant acknowledgment. Mor, the charming and powerful third-in-command, immediately welcomes her. But it is Amren, the creature of unknown origin and Rhys’s second-in-command, who sends chills down Feyre’s spine by recognizing her as someone similar—an immortal made from something mortal. During dinner, Feyre observes the group’s dynamics and realizes they are a chosen family, bound by scars, secrets, and loyalty. Rhys finally offers Feyre a place in his fight against Hybern, where she can earn her position. Feyre accepts, knowing that this strange and powerful group may be the key to facing the dangers that lie ahead.
Chapter 17 Summary – A Court of Mist and Fury – Rhys’s Secret Revealed
After dinner, Rhys takes Feyre back to Velaris and confesses the true cost of protecting the city from Amarantha for 50 years. He manipulated the minds of everyone to hide Velaris, sacrificing his power and submitting to Amarantha to keep his people safe. Feyre realizes the immense burden Rhys has borne, hiding his pain and sacrifice so that no one else would suffer. That night, trapped in nightmares from Under the Mountain, Feyre awakens surrounded by flames, the result of a latent power inherited from the Autumn Court. Rhys calms her and shares his own nightmare: being forced to watch his friends tortured. This moment of vulnerability draws them closer, revealing that both carry deep scars and secrets that bind them more than they ever imagined.
Chapter 18 Summary – A Court of Mist and Fury – The Visit to the Prison and the Bone Carver
Feyre and Rhys visit the Prison, a mountain guarded by ancient magic, to interrogate the Bone Carver. Amren gives Feyre an amulet that allows her to enter and leave safely. Inside, Feyre faces her fears as the Bone Carver takes the form of a child with blue eyes and dark hair for her, and of Jurian for Rhys. Feyre answers unsettling questions about her death and resurrection, while the Bone Carver reveals that the Cauldron, a source of ancient power, could be used to resurrect Jurian and destroy the wall that protects the humans. Only by retrieving both halves of the Book of Breathings, hidden in the Summer Court and in the hands of the mortal queens, can they neutralize its power. Feyre, faced with the magnitude of the danger, leaves the Prison carrying the weight of this new truth.
Chapter 19 Summary – A Court of Mist and Fury – The Decision to Face the Weaver
Feyre returns from the Prison with Rhysand, cold and exhausted. Cassian, Mor, and Azriel anxiously await to hear what happened with the Bone Carver. Rhys reveals that they need to find the Cauldron before Hybern unleashes its power, and to do so, they must obtain both halves of the Book of Breathings. Feyre may be key to tracking the Book, using the fragments of power granted to her by the High Lords. Rhys proposes testing her abilities by sending her to the Weaver’s cottage, a dangerous creature who guards a valuable object Rhys lost years ago. Although the plan is risky, Feyre accepts the challenge. Rhys also suggests that Feyre act as an emissary between Prythian and the human realm to gain the trust of the mortal queens. Feyre feels the responsibility to protect her sisters and accepts the mission, preparing for what lies ahead.
Chapter 20 Summary – A Court of Mist and Fury – The Weaver’s Cottage
Rhysand and Feyre arrive at an ancient and sinister forest, home of the Weaver. Rhys explains that the creature weaves objects and bodies with threads not of this world. Feyre must infiltrate without being detected to find the lost object. Rhys warns that the Weaver must not discover her, as she is a cruel hunter. Feyre senses the magic in the cottage and enters, observing the vast collection of treasures accumulated by the Weaver. The creature, beautiful on the outside but rotten within, sings while weaving fibers of unknown origin. Feyre feels drawn to a sapphire ring and takes it, but the Weaver detects her. The furious creature lunges after her. Feyre realizes that she is no longer a defenseless prey—she is a wolf, and she is ready to fight to survive.
Chapter 21 Summary – A Court of Mist and Fury – The Escape from the Weaver
Feyre tries to escape the cottage, but the Weaver seals the door and windows. Trapped, Feyre climbs up the chimney but gets stuck, feeling panic overwhelm her. She remembers her abilities and the strength she now possesses as an immortal. She strikes the bricks with her power, creating an opening, but the Weaver follows her, climbing after her. Feyre throws a brick at the creature’s face, delaying her long enough to escape through the roof made of human hair. She runs through the trees until she finds Rhysand, who transports her back to Velaris. Feyre, covered in grease and filth, vomits as she recalls what she faced. Though she passed the test, she feels the weight of the horror she endured. Cassian and Amren are impressed, but Feyre decides that she no longer wants to be prey—she asks Cassian to train her so she can learn to defend herself.
Chapter 22 Summary – A Court of Mist and Fury – Return to the Human Realm
Rhys keeps his promise to take Feyre to the human realm to see her sisters. Mor decides not to accompany them, as the way humans treat women brings back painful memories for her. During the journey, Azriel carries Feyre through the rift in the wall, an invisible space connecting both worlds. As they cross the wall, Feyre feels her ancient power resisting its presence. Upon arriving at the coast of the human realm, nostalgia and uncertainty flood Feyre. Her family’s house remains intact, but she feels that she has become something too vast and wild for that place. Rhys, Cassian, and Azriel remain hidden while Feyre prepares to confront her past and reunite with her sisters.

Feyre is greeted by Lady Laurent, who hesitates to let her in. However, when Elain sees her, tears fall down her face. Nesta, more reserved, watches from the stairs. Feyre reveals her transformation into a Fae and tells them about Hybern’s threat. Elain, concerned for her family’s safety, supports Feyre’s plan to use the house to meet with the mortal queens. Nesta, though reluctant, agrees grudgingly, recognizing the danger they face. During the conversation, Feyre learns that Elain is engaged to Graysen, the son of a lord obsessed with protecting against the Fae. Nesta reveals her distrust of Graysen’s father and fears that the property will become a prison for Elain. Despite the tensions, Feyre feels that she has taken the first step in protecting her family and saving her people.
Chapter 24 Summary – A Court of Mist and Fury – The Meeting with My Sisters
Elain took hours to ensure that the staff locked up the house and left. When they finally departed, Feyre opened the door to find Rhys, Cassian, and Azriel waiting. Inside, Nesta and Elain received them in the dining room. The sisters were stunned to see the Illyrian warriors, but Nesta, ever protective, stood in front of Elain. Feyre introduced her sisters to the three Fae males, and although Rhys tried to be kind, Nesta remained hostile. During dinner, Nesta challenged Feyre about her new Fae nature, which provoked Cassian’s fury as he defended Feyre and reproached Nesta for allowing her younger sister to risk her life for them. Despite the tension, they agreed to stay the night at the house and send letters to the mortal queens to arrange a meeting.
Chapter 25 Summary – A Court of Mist and Fury – Training and the Attor’s Betrayal
Feyre and Rhys went to the forest to train her magic, but she struggled to light a candle. While practicing alone, she exchanged playful messages with Rhys through their bond. However, her peace was shattered when she was attacked by the Attor, who caught her by surprise. Just when all seemed lost, Rhys appeared, freeing her and trapping the Attor with shadows and blades of night. The Attor confessed that the King of Hybern was searching for Feyre, though he did not know why. Azriel arrived to take the Attor for interrogation. Furious, Feyre confronted Rhys for using her as bait, but he reminded her that she had forgotten her strength and abilities. Though angry, Feyre acknowledged that she needed to remember how to fight to protect herself.

Azriel broke the Attor’s wings before sending him back to Hybern as a warning. Rhys showed Feyre the vision of what had occurred through their mental connection, making it clear that the threat was imminent. Feyre, more determined than ever, understood that she had to prepare for what was coming and protect her new family.

Frustrated and furious, Feyre channeled her power and, for the first time, managed to transport herself through the shadows, surprising even Rhys. During training, she confronted Rhys, demanding that he never use her as bait again and stop manipulating her. Rhys, impressed by her strength, apologized and acknowledged his mistake. Feyre, determined to take control of her destiny, declared that she was no one’s pet and was ready to fight. The restaurant owner, grateful to Rhys, serves them a special dessert, while Amren receives a glass of fresh blood. At the end, Mor insists on going dancing, but Feyre and Rhys prefer to walk through the city. Upon reaching the Rainbow of Velaris, Rhys shares that the place was also his sister’s favorite. Feyre discovers the truth about Velaris: an ancient High Lord sealed the city to protect it, and Rhys perpetuated the secret to keep his people safe. When Feyre mentions the music she heard Under the Mountain, Rhys admits that he sent it to save her from the abyss. They walk together, and Feyre feels that she might learn to love not only flying but also Rhys.

The memories of everything she sacrificed for Tamlin consume her, and with each strike, she releases her rage and pain. Finally, her emotions explode, and her power burns the bandages on her hands. Rhys consoles her and shares his pain over losing his family, encouraging her to learn to live with the weight of her actions. Rhys arrives and announces that the invitation from the Summer Court has arrived. Only Feyre, Amren, and Rhys will go, as Cassian is forbidden entry and Azriel is busy with the spies. The mission is clear: Feyre must find and steal the half of the Book of Breathings without being discovered. Rhys warns her of the risks and the importance of not being caught. Despite Cassian’s warnings, Rhys insists that Amren will be key if things get complicated. Feyre feels the weight of her task, aware that she must balance duty and betrayal.

Amren provokes Tarquin with her sharp comments while Rhys maintains a calculated posture. During the formal introduction, Tarquin shows interest in Feyre, noticing the part of his power that now resides within her. Rhys introduces her as his Emissary to the Mortal Lands, increasing the tension in the room. Cresseida distrusts Feyre and suggests that if Tamlin were to claim her, they would have to return her. During the dinner on the pleasure barge, Tarquin offers to show Feyre the treasures of the court, suspecting her true intentions. Rhys, in turn, openly flirts with Cresseida, which stirs jealousy and unhappiness in Feyre. She decides that although he can be her friend, there is no need to define what she feels. During the day, she avoids Rhys and immerses herself in a bath, practicing with Tarquin’s power to mold water, creating butterflies and shapes. Nuala dresses her in a sea-green outfit for her meeting with Tarquin, reflecting respect for the Summer Court. Feyre continues her plan to find the half of the Book. During dinner, she casually mentions a temple she saw when the tide receded, noticing Tarquin’s nervous reaction. Seizing the moment, Feyre uses her daemati ability to infiltrate Tarquin’s mind, pretending to be his essence and planting thoughts of trust toward her. By convincing Tarquin to take her to the temple, she feels a mixture of triumph and guilt for violating his mind. Although Rhys and Amren praise her for her skill, Feyre feels dirty for what she has done. That night, Rhys admits that he saw her in action and praises her quick learning in manipulating minds, but Feyre cannot help feeling like a traitor. Amren and Rhys decide that the best option is to enter the submerged temple at night, trusting that the tide will give them enough time to retrieve the Book.
Chapter 36 Summary – A Court of Mist and Fury – The Infiltration of the Submerged Temple
Night falls, and Rhys takes Feyre and Amren to the submerged temple. The low tide grants them access to the hidden entrance, and both descend into the interior filled with mud and algae. Feyre feels the presence of the Book calling her, an ancient and powerful voice. Digging through the muck, they find a lead door sealed with ancient spells. Feyre, using Tarquin’s essence, manages to open it, and they descend further, where a secret chamber guards the object. The iron box containing the Book emanates a dark power that whispers to Feyre, unsettling her. They hurry to take it before the tide returns, but as they try to leave, a trap is triggered, and the chamber begins to fill with water. Despite their efforts to escape, they become trapped. Feyre and Amren emerge from the water thanks to the help of the Water Wraiths and reach the shore, where Rhys picks them up. Back in Velaris, Feyre recovers from exhaustion and hands the lead box containing the Book to Rhys. The box emits a dark whisper that recognizes Feyre as the one who broke the Curse. Upon opening it, they discover that the Book consists of metal plates inscribed in an ancient language, Leshon Hakodesh, known only to Amren. Rhys reveals that he suspected Amren might be able to read it and that perhaps within the Book lies a spell to free her and return her to her home. Amren is shocked by the possibility of returning to her world. While Mor tries to ease the tension, Azriel points out that they still need to worry about Jurian and his connection to the King of Hybern, adding a new threat to their mission.

Feyre wakes up exhausted after the mission in the Summer Court and finds Rhys thoughtful on the terrace, watching over Velaris. Beside him is a box with blood rubies sent by Tarquin, a symbol of mortal enmity toward Rhys, Feyre, and Amren for stealing the Book. Rhys, hurt, laments having betrayed Tarquin’s trust and admits that he might have tried to negotiate before resorting to theft. Feyre tries to console him and suggests that after neutralizing the Cauldron, they could return the Book as a gesture of peace. Rhys, frustrated, is willing to pay the price of enmity to protect Velaris. Tension between them grows as they joke to dispel the sadness, but Feyre senses the deep pain Rhys carries. Weeks pass as Feyre trains her body and powers, trying to master the abilities she inherited from the High Lords. During this time, Rhys tells her the story of Miryam and Drakon, who escaped together after the war and created a land where humans and Fae lived in peace. The eldest queen, cold and calculating, makes it clear that they are not interested in defending the humans from the imminent war, preferring to sacrifice territories to preserve their power. Feyre pleads for the other half of the Book, explaining the threat of Hybern, but the queens refuse to give it without proof. Mor intervenes and tells them about Miryam and Drakon, who achieved peace between humans and Fae in their hidden land. However, the queens insist that they need proof that Rhys is not the monster the rumors depict him as. Rhys, barely containing his fury, promises to obtain the proof, and the queens vanish, leaving behind a lingering threat. The meeting ends in disappointment, and Feyre feels that peace is farther away than they had imagined.

While Feyre tries to support Rhys, he fears that she will see the monster he has to become to maintain power in the Court of Nightmares. Feyre, determined to help, insists on accompanying him. Rhys tells her about Mor’s traumatic past, where she was sold by her family to Eris and brutally punished after her rejection. Feyre’s anger grows as she understands the pain Mor endures. Mor and Feyre enter first, crossing the Hewn City, filled with macabre art and figures reflecting pleasures and horrors. Feyre wears a provocative outfit similar to what she wore Under the Mountain and adopts the role of Rhys’s lover to maintain the façade. Rhys arrives radiating power, with Cassian and Azriel as lethal forces by his side. Feyre sits on his lap, playing the role of a distraction so that Azriel can steal the Veritas. The sensual display they put on keeps everyone distracted while Azriel completes the mission.

Rhys, consumed by his own fears, admits his internal struggle to protect her and compares himself to Tamlin, fearing he might become someone who traps her. Feyre, filled with conflicting emotions, confronts him and points out that she is also unsure of what she wants. The discussion reveals deep wounds and shared fears. He tries to convince her to return willingly, but Feyre reminds him how he abandoned her when she begged for help. Lucien admits his mistake, but Feyre is no longer the same. When he tries to touch her, she unleashes her new power, transforming into smoke and shadow, and reappears behind the sentinels. Rhys arrives at her side, radiating lethal power, and humiliates Lucien with venomous words. Feyre warns that if Tamlin sends anyone else, she will destroy them. Rhys admits that he watches her in a way that consumes him, while Feyre confesses that she constantly thinks about him. When night falls, the cold forces Feyre to accept sharing the bed with Rhys to stay warm. Their bodies brush against each other, and although they both try to resist, desire consumes them. The poison paralyzes his power, and when he realizes they are cornered, he throws Feyre away to save her. Rhys falls, wounded and vulnerable, while Feyre crashes into the branches and manages to slow her fall with an air shield. Lost in the darkness, Feyre feels her bond with Rhys weakening and decides to track him. She transforms into a shadow and follows the trail of his captors, guided by the scent of his blood. The creature reveals that the cure lies in her blood, thanks to the gift from the Dawn Court’s High Lord. It also mentions that Rhys is her mate. Shocked and hurt by the revelation, Feyre returns and gives her blood to Rhys, who begins to recover. Feyre observes the desolate landscape, a reflection of the emptiness she feels inside. The cabin, protected by spells, offers refuge and solitude. Mor explains that the house has provisions and warmth, but Feyre only wants to be alone to process the pain and betrayal. Feyre paints ceaselessly, covering the walls with images of her friends: Cassian, Azriel, Mor, Amren, and Rhys. Feyre feels the warmth of these stories and begins to understand that the cabin is a symbol of home, something she never truly had. Mor talks about Rhys’s sacrifice and advises Feyre to listen to his version of events. Although Feyre feels betrayed, her feelings for Rhys are undeniable. Cassian knows he needs to calm Rhys’s tension and, through the fight, gives him an outlet for his rage. When they finish, Rhys and Feyre retreat to the cabin, where the passion between them erupts, dissipating the accumulated tension. Afterward, they return to Velaris, where they are received with honor and respect. Upon arriving at the House of Wind, Feyre is greeted by Mor, Azriel, Cassian, and Amren, who bow and pledge loyalty to her, but Feyre prefers that they remain her friends rather than her protectors. However, the queens insist on seeing concrete evidence. Rhys, with Mor’s help, uses the Veritas to show them Velaris, the hidden city he has protected for centuries. The images of Velaris’s beauty, peace, and harmony impress the queens, but even so, they do not hand over the Book. Overcome by fury, Feyre uses her power to summon wolves and water hawks from the Sidra, who tear the invaders apart. Feyre’s magic, fueled by the ice of the Winter Court and the fire of the Day Court, becomes her deadly weapon. Her wolves hunt and destroy the soldiers while Feyre freezes and shatters her enemies. Feyre is now infiltrated in the Spring Court, ready to spy and destroy from within. Rhys reveals that before the mission, Feyre was secretly made High Lady of the Night Court, equal to him—something no one knows. The bond remains intact, and Rhys feels her strength. The breaking point comes when he magically traps her inside the house, triggering a panic attack that ends with her being rescued by Mor and Rhysand. This act becomes the turning point—marking her rebirth and the end of a relationship that no longer reflects who she is or allows her to grow.
What does Velaris mean for Feyre in the story?
Velaris is the first place where Feyre experiences unconditional freedom and beauty. After the trauma of Amarantha and Tamlin’s suffocating control, the hidden city offers her a chance to breathe, rediscover herself, and begin healing. Through its Rainbow district and her bond with Rhysand’s Inner Circle, Feyre finds a chosen family and a deeper reason to fight. Velaris is not just a refuge—it’s the physical manifestation of what Feyre can build when she stops running and starts choosing.
How does Feyre and Rhysand’s relationship evolve throughout the book?
Feyre and Rhysand’s relationship transforms from tension and mistrust to respect, and eventually to a profound bond rooted in mutual vulnerability. What role does Feyre’s power play in the fight against Hybern?
Feyre’s power—drawn from all seven High Lords—makes her a uniquely powerful figure in the looming war against Hybern. As the story unfolds, she trains to master abilities like shadow-walking, fire control, and mental manipulation. Her strength is not only magical but symbolic: she embodies the unity of the courts and the hope for a new future. Her role as a strategist, emissary, and warrior makes her central to the resistance against Hybern’s forces.
Why is the encounter with the Weaver important for Feyre’s growth?
Facing the Weaver is Feyre’s first true solo trial—it forces her to rely on her instincts, magic, and courage to survive. In that moment, she stops seeing herself as a victim and begins to embrace her identity as a hunter and survivor. The object she retrieves—a sapphire ring—isn’t just a tool; it’s a symbolic piece of her story with Rhysand. This encounter marks the moment Feyre claims her strength, not for others, but for herself.
