Prologue Summary – Warriors Super Edition: Hawkwing's Journey – The Prophecy of the StarClan Leaders
Deep within the sunlit gorge, Cloudstar, his gray and white pelt glowing with starlight, watches the stream winding between rocks and shrubs with concern. Brackenheart joins him, troubled by a disturbing vision. Soon Skystar appears, his presence gleaming like ice, demanding answers. The three StarClan cats have foreseen a dark threat looming over SkyClan—more fearsome than any storm. Skystar suggests the Clan must leave its territory to survive, sparking outrage from Cloudstar and Brackenheart, who painfully recall their struggle to settle in the gorge. Firestar can no longer help them from his distant StarClan, and the threat is unstoppable. Skystar insists SkyClan must reunite with the other Clans as in ancient times, for only then will they drive away the darkness. Despite their fear and uncertainty, they believe SkyClan’s fate is tied to the embers left by Firestar and a journey that must begin now.
Chapter 1 Summary – Warriors Super Edition: Hawkwing's Journey – The Apprentices’ Mischief and the Deadly Fire
Hawkpaw enjoys a quiet nap until Duskpaw wakes him with one of his impulsive ideas: to go with Cloudpaw and Pebblepaw to the Twoleg greenplace in search of discarded food. Though annoyed, Hawkpaw opts out and joins Ebonyclaw on a border patrol. There, they detect a strange scent and then the unmistakable smell of fire—right where the apprentices went. Alarmed, they rush to the site and find a fire raging amidst smoke and cries. Hawkpaw saves Pebblepaw while Ebonyclaw rescues Cloudpaw, but Duskpaw is found trapped under a burning branch. Together, they manage to free him, though he is unconscious. As they return, guilt floods Hawkpaw: he had wished Duskpaw would get in trouble, and by choosing to save Pebblepaw first, he fears he doomed his brother. A burning doubt settles in his heart: did he make the wrong choice? And if so, how will he live with it?
Chapter 2 Summary – Warriors Super Edition: Hawkwing's Journey – The Death of Duskpaw
Carrying Duskpaw back to camp is an agonizing task for Hawkpaw, who fears his brother might fall from Ebonyclaw’s back. Upon arrival, the Clan greets them with concern. Pebblepaw and Cloudpaw also show burns, but all attention centers on unconscious Duskpaw. Echosong and Frecklewish try to revive him, to no avail. Hawkpaw cries out in despair as Cherrytail throws herself over her dead son. The Clan stands in somber silence. Sharpclaw and Leafstar watch silently, and Echosong declares there is nothing more to be done. Hawkpaw drowns in sorrow and guilt, unable to accept Duskpaw’s fate. Cherrytail tries to comfort him, telling him he did the right thing by saving Pebblepaw, but Hawkpaw rejects the sentiment. He refuses medical help until he collapses, worn down by exhaustion and the weight of his decision. Just before fainting, he laments: “I should have saved him first!”
Chapter 3 Summary – Warriors Super Edition: Hawkwing's Journey – The Ceremony and the Name Hawkwing
Days after the fire, Hawkpaw visits Duskpaw’s grave alone, pouring out his grief and regret. Though he is to be named a warrior alongside Cloudpaw and Blossompaw that day, he feels no joy. Back at camp, he witnesses the ceremony led by Leafstar. Cloudpaw is named Cloudmist, Blossompaw becomes Blossomheart. When it’s his turn, Hawkpaw pledges to protect his Clan and receives the name Hawkwing. Yet he feels empty, believing he doesn’t deserve the honor while Duskpaw lies buried. After the ceremony, Pebblepaw thanks him for saving her, triggering his bottled-up rage. He lashes out, saying he wished he had saved his brother instead. Hurt, Pebblepaw walks away. Though officially a warrior, Hawkwing feels he has lost something greater than any title—his brother, his joy, and part of himself.
Chapter 4 Summary – Warriors Super Edition: Hawkwing's Journey – Skystar’s Prophecy and the Shadow of Fire
During his warrior vigil, Hawkwing reflects on his guilt toward Pebblepaw and the weight Duskpaw left on his conscience. At dawn, Leafstar gathers the Clan to share a prophecy Echosong received from Skystar: “When the fire dies, they will find the spark that remains.” Some interpret it as a call to find Firestar’s kin in ThunderClan; others think it refers to the recent fire. During the debate, Hawkwing erupts in anger, accusing Echosong of failing to warn them. Sharpclaw publicly scolds him, leaving Hawkwing humiliated. Though Echosong tries to comfort him, he rejects her. Leafstar sends a patrol to the fire’s remains, including Hawkwing. While others find nothing, Hawkwing encounters a strange cat named Darktail, who claims to have been near the fire and asks for help. Hawkwing escorts him to the territory’s edge, sensing he might be part of the prophecy. In his heart, a spark of hope returns.
Chapter 5 Summary – Warriors Super Edition: Hawkwing's Journey – The Mission to Find the Clans
Hawkwing joins a patrol with Billystorm, Waspwhisker, Blossomheart, and Pebblepaw on a mission to find ThunderClan. The journey is prompted by revelations from Darktail, who claimed to know the Clans’ approximate location. Though spirits are high, Hawkwing resents Pebblepaw’s presence, still bitter over Duskpaw’s death. During the journey, they pass through Twolegplace, are chased by Twoleg kits, and Hawkwing falls, thinking he’s injured—but he’s just wet. When Pebblepaw laughs, Hawkwing snaps, again lashing out with cruel words about Duskpaw. Pebblepaw defends herself, but Hawkwing remains unyielding. Later, Waspwhisker shares fond memories of his lost apprentice, helping Hawkwing realize that guilt is shared and Duskpaw would want them to live joyfully. Though Hawkwing can’t yet forgive, doubt creeps into his fury. As the day ends, the weight of the journey begins to match the weight of his grief.
Chapter 6 Summary – Warriors Super Edition: Hawkwing's Journey – The Tree of Discord and the Death Nest
For three days, the group travels, following Darktail’s vague directions. A debate arises over whether an oak tree with four branches is the “tree that splits into three.” Hawkwing defends his view but is outvoted. Though skeptical, they continue and find a clearing that seems to match the next landmark. While exploring, they detect a strong badger scent. Hawkwing suspects the animals still live there—and he’s right. Four badgers attack. In a fierce battle, Hawkwing protects Blossomheart and is injured. Pebblepaw fights with fierce energy and drives the badgers off. But the damage is done: Billystorm lies dead. Devastation fills the group. Pebblepaw, destroyed by her mentor’s death, screams in despair. Hawkwing, paralyzed by grief, feels the whole journey has been a fatal mistake.
Chapter 7 Summary – Warriors Super Edition: Hawkwing's Journey – The Frustrated Return and the Broken Promise
The group keeps vigil over Billystorm’s body all night in silent grief. Pebblepaw insists they return his body to camp, but Waspwhisker explains it’s not possible. Together, they bury him beside the split tree, and Hawkwing recites Echosong’s farewell words for Duskpaw. Seeing Pebblepaw’s devastation, Hawkwing feels deep empathy; now they share the guilt of not doing enough. When he thanks her for saving his life, she rejects him, haunted by the idea of abandoning her mentor. A decision looms: continue or turn back. Pebblepaw refuses to go on, fearing more failure. Hawkwing and Blossomheart agree Darktail may have lied. Waspwhisker urges them to continue but is overruled. As they return, they stop to hunt and meet Betsy, a kittypet who confirms badgers have long lived in that area. Hawkwing begins to doubt Darktail, wondering if they’ve been betrayed.
Chapter 8 Summary – Warriors Super Edition: Hawkwing's Journey – The Tragedy of Billystorm and the Mystery of the Attack
Upon returning home, the group is welcomed with excitement, but Hawkwing senses a somber atmosphere. No one asks about Billystorm, deepening the tension. At the camp, all is unusually quiet. When they find Leafstar, they learn Echosong is injured and Harveymoon is missing. Leafstar reveals the camp was attacked by strange raccoon-like creatures. In the same attack, Honeytail died. Hawkwing feels doubly guilty: he had never reported a strange scent noticed before the fire. At last, he shares the hardest news—Billystorm died fighting like a warrior. Leafstar, devastated, breaks down but quickly regains composure and calls an emergency meeting. She must lead the Clan and make sense of recent tragedies. The fire, the attacks, and the deaths seem tied to the prophecy of “the spark that remains,” and the urgency to act becomes unavoidable.
Chapter 9 Summary – Warriors Super Edition: Hawkwing's Journey – Accusations, Prophecies, and Distrust
During the Clan meeting, Leafstar emphasizes the prophecy and the need to find “the spark that remains.” Hawkwing can’t stay silent and accuses Darktail of lying and leading them into a deadly trap. Most Clanmates defend Darktail, remembering he fought bravely against the strange creatures. Furious, Hawkwing insists Billystorm’s death was Darktail’s fault. His outburst causes tension, and Leafstar harshly scolds him, ordering him to leave. Frecklewish then interrupts with a new vision from Echosong: the fire dies but reignites—a warning to find the spark before it’s lost. The Clan debates whether to send another patrol or defend their borders. Hawkwing argues for setting out again. When Sharpclaw criticizes him, he lashes out, mentioning Billystorm. Enraged, Leafstar punishes him, assigning him to help Echosong in the healers’ den. Humiliated, Hawkwing retreats, full of anger, unaware that his fate is about to take another unexpected turn.
Chapter 10 Summary – Warriors Super Edition: Hawkwing's Journey – The New Mission and the Barn Trap
Punished, Hawkwing works cleaning rotting herbs when Darktail visits to apologize and share a personal story of loss. He then reveals he will lead a new mission with help from a cat named Rain, and wants Hawkwing to join. Though hesitant, Hawkwing agrees. Convinced by Darktail, Leafstar allows him to join the group. Sharpclaw disapproves, sparking another argument with his son. Still hurt, Hawkwing lashes out, and Sharpclaw walks away disappointed. The group sets off, guided by Darktail and Rain. After two days, they meet another rogue named Toad, who claims to have seen a large group of cats in a barn. Excited, they head there, believing they’ve found the Clans. But it’s a trap: two Twolegs release savage dogs. Toad is killed brutally. As the others climb trees to escape, Hawkwing is frozen in horror watching a potential ally be devoured. Their supposed hope turns to terror, and the “spark” remains out of reach.
Chapter 11 Summary – Warriors Super Edition: Hawkwing's Journey – Toad’s Sacrifice and the Painful Retreat
Hawkwing and his companions flee desperately from the dogs’ attack as the sounds of Toad’s struggle and death echo in their minds. Taking shelter behind a fence, Darktail is devastated and admits his mistake: there is no sign of the cats he claimed they would find. Hawkwing insists on searching, but they find nothing—only silence and emptiness. Tensions rise when Firefern blames Darktail, who, broken over his friend’s death, accepts full responsibility. Hawkwing offers him comfort, remembering Duskpaw’s death. The patrol decides to return home, their mission unfulfilled. That night, they camp in a grove, haunted by the attack. The next morning, they begin their journey back to camp, heavy with grief. Upon arrival, they discover that SkyClan has been attacked by raccoons, and Leafstar has lost a life. Once again, Hawkwing feels everything is falling apart.
Chapter 12 Summary – Warriors Super Edition: Hawkwing's Journey – Accusations, Loyalties, and Clashes
Sharpclaw calls a meeting to strengthen patrols after the recent attack. The Clan begins to distrust Darktail and Rain, suspecting the enemy may be among them. Waspwhisker openly accuses Darktail, who humbly defends himself, but Sharpclaw insists outsiders cannot understand Clan rules. Hawkwing speaks up in defense, recalling Darktail’s grief over Toad. Sharpclaw, upset, accuses him of trying to replace his lost brother, Duskpaw. Humiliated and angry, Hawkwing leaves the meeting. Pebblepaw tries to comfort him, but he reacts harshly. Later, he apologizes, and she forgives him gently. Despite the chaos, Hawkwing feels a growing warmth toward her. Soon after, he sees Darktail acting suspiciously near the place where Duskpaw died, handling Twoleg food. Intrigued, Hawkwing secretly follows him into the city, finding more mysterious signs. Though confused, he chooses not to confront Darktail yet, keeping his suspicions alive.
Chapter 13 Summary – Warriors Super Edition: Hawkwing's Journey – Battle at the Border and Silent Doubts
On patrol, Waspwhisker is openly hostile toward Darktail, criticizing everything he does. Despite the mistreatment, Darktail remains calm, earning Hawkwing’s sympathy. While patrolling, they encounter five rogue cats led by a large gray tom. The group is confrontational and refuses to leave. A fierce battle breaks out. Hawkwing shows bravery by saving Sparrowpelt and fighting fiercely, but Darktail stands out, using a surprising technique to defeat the enemy leader. The invaders retreat, and though Waspwhisker acknowledges Darktail’s effort, he does so dismissively. Hawkwing begins to question the outsider’s true intentions again. Later, he finds another stash of Twoleg food hidden in the forest, reigniting his suspicions. He remains silent, but his unease grows. What is Darktail really planning? Hawkwing decides to keep watching him without accusing him—for now.
Chapter 14 Summary – Warriors Super Edition: Hawkwing's Journey – Fear Spreads and Faith Falters
After the battle report, Leafstar gathers the Clan. Some cats suggest attacking the rogues, while others fear for the young ones' safety. Tensions rise. Sharpclaw and Cherrytail push for aggression, while Plumwillow and Bouncefire argue the Clan is too weak. Amid the chaos, Echosong admits she’s confused—StarClan has sent no new visions, fueling fear and uncertainty. Darktail suggests maybe StarClan no longer wishes to save SkyClan, and Rain openly questions the Clan’s faith. Doubt begins to spread. Later, Hawkwing speaks with Cherrytail, who confides she fears another exile—worse than the last. That night, overwhelmed by all they’ve endured, Hawkwing vows under the stars to do whatever it takes to protect his Clan. SkyClan’s story will not end in defeat. His heart burns with fierce determination: they will survive, no matter the cost.
Chapter 15 Summary – Warriors Super Edition: Hawkwing's Journey – A Bond Begins and Darkness Arrives
Sharpclaw organizes new hunting patrols, including Hawkwing and Darktail. During the hunt, Hawkwing hopes to bond with his father, but Sharpclaw remains distant. Darktail jokes about Pebblepaw, telling Hawkwing he clearly likes her and should explore his feelings before it’s too late. Uncomfortable, Hawkwing begins to seriously consider his connection with her. After a successful hunt, he tries to speak with Sharpclaw, but is met with silence. Disappointed, Hawkwing finds Pebblepaw and apologizes for blaming her for Duskpaw’s death. She forgives him, and though both are confused, a new bond begins to form. That night, as everyone sleeps, Hawkwing hears a strange noise. Investigating, he is frozen in shock as he sees a horde of rogue cats descending into SkyClan’s camp. The long-feared attack has begun: the outsiders are striking at the heart of the Clan.
Chapter 16 Summary – Warriors Super Edition: Hawkwing's Journey – Darktail’s Betrayal and Sharpclaw’s Fall

Hawkwing joins them, with Pebblepaw and apprentices following despite the danger. The battle is fierce. Hawkwing protects his Clanmates, taking down several enemies. But amid the chaos, he sees something horrifying: Darktail murders Bouncefire, revealing his betrayal. Stunned, Hawkwing tries to stop him but is blocked by a massive gray tom. He then witnesses Darktail and Rain together kill Sharpclaw—his father. Hawkwing, desperate, tries to intervene, but it’s too late. Darktail offers Hawkwing a place at his side, calling him an equal. But filled with rage and sorrow, Hawkwing rejects him. The traitor vanishes into the darkness, leaving the Clan shattered by tragedy.
Chapter 17 Summary – Warriors Super Edition: Hawkwing's Journey – Defeat and Exile in the Rain
Consumed by grief, Hawkwing fights on with robotic fury, barely aware of his surroundings. The storm intensifies. He reaches the camp’s edge just as SkyClan defends the nursery. With Pebblepaw, he drives off the attackers and saves Rileypaw and Bellapaw from a deadly fate. But the battle turns dire: many warriors are injured or fallen, and Leafstar orders a retreat. Heartbroken, Hawkwing flees, believing his trust in Darktail doomed the Clan. Near the river, Birdwing’s kits try to cross using stones. He saves two, but Snipkit falls into the water. Hawkwing dives after her, nearly drowning. As he struggles, memories of his father push him to survive. Emerging from the water, Snipkit is gone. With Pebblepaw, Echosong, and the remaining kits, he shelters in the underbrush—soaked, exhausted, and aware SkyClan has lost its home.
Chapter 18 Summary – Warriors Super Edition: Hawkwing's Journey – Grief for Snipkit and Trails of Betrayal
At dawn, Hawkwing and the others search for Snipkit, but hopes fade quickly. The river has erased all traces, and while Curlykit and Fidgetkit try to stay hopeful, Hawkwing fears the worst. Suddenly, a raccoon attacks Echosong. Pebblepaw and Hawkwing fight it off. As Pebblepaw treats Echosong’s wounds, the kits gather cobwebs. Hawkwing reflects on Darktail’s malice, suspecting he lured raccoons with Twoleg food to weaken the Clan. Pebblepaw admits she too saw Darktail acting suspiciously. They both feel guilty for staying silent. Still, they vow to protect SkyClan at all costs. After hunting, they return with prey. Echosong admits Snipkit is likely dead. Though the kits can’t accept it, the Clan must move on. Echosong suggests heading to the city to join the daylight warriors. Burdened by guilt, Hawkwing agrees—they must keep fighting for their Clan.

With Pebblepaw, he searches and finds Cloudmist and his mother Cherrytail, injured but alive. He brings them back, and Echosong begins treatment. Relieved to see his family reunited, Hawkwing still mourns his father’s absence. Leafstar leads a patrol to scout the old camp while Hawkwing stays behind, torn between vengeance and duty. When the patrol returns, they confirm rogues have fully occupied their territory. Leafstar announces a final decision: SkyClan will leave the gorge and seek ThunderClan, guided by a new vision from Echosong about a calm, wide body of water. The news causes confusion and debate, but Leafstar is determined to lead her Clan to a new home.

Parsleypaw becomes Parsleyseed, Bellapaw is named Bellaleaf, Rileypaw becomes Rileypool, and Pebblepaw receives the name Pebbleshine—filling Hawkwing with pride. Fidgetkit is named medicine cat apprentice, now Fidgetpaw, while Curlykit becomes Curlypaw and is assigned to Hawkwing as a mentor. Unsure of himself, Hawkwing vows to guide her well. The next day, the Clan prepares to depart. Some cats, like Mintfur and Ebonyclaw, choose to stay behind, but most follow Leafstar. Macgyver joins them unexpectedly, reaffirming his loyalty. As they cross the city, Hawkwing reflects on the past and all he has lost—but also on the new responsibilities that now drive him: Curlypaw, his injured mother, and his mate Pebbleshine. Though it hurts to leave the gorge, he knows SkyClan’s future lies ahead. Hope returns, along with a desire to build a new home and right the wrongs of the past.
Chapter 21 Summary – Warriors Super Edition: Hawkwing’s Journey – Crossing Through Dodge’s Territory
Hawkwing and SkyClan reach a shallow stream near the Twolegplace, once the scene of the battle against Dodge. Though the journey had been peaceful so far, tension rises when Leafstar urges them to cross quickly. After making their way across a fallen tree, they enter a narrow alley filled with shadows and foul smells. Invisible cats watch them from the dark, making Curlypaw and the others huddle together. Guided by sunlight, Leafstar struggles through the maze of alleys until Shorty, an old ally, appears kindly and offers help. He leads them to a clearing where more familiar cats live: Stick, Coal, Snowy, and Cora, who now has three kits. Agreeing to stay only one night, SkyClan joins in mixed patrols to hunt. Hawkwing, uneasy about Curlypaw’s absence, is alarmed when Bellaleaf and Fidgetpaw return injured, shouting that a group of cats has captured the apprentice.
Chapter 22 Summary – Warriors Super Edition: Hawkwing’s Journey – Dodge’s Ultimatum
After hearing about Curlypaw’s capture, Leafstar reacts swiftly, organizing a search party. Stick, indifferent, insists it’s pointless to face Dodge. Shorty and Snowy offer help, showing more loyalty than Stick’s own group. Amid the chaos, Harley—a familiar face—appears with a message from Dodge: he wants to meet SkyClan to negotiate. Though some are skeptical, Leafstar agrees under the condition that no cat will be harmed during the meeting. Following Harley, SkyClan travels a winding path to a ruined building where Dodge awaits. From a pit, Curlypaw cries out in desperation. Dodge appears smug and arrogant, revealing he led Darktail to them as revenge. He demands SkyClan help him drive out Stick and his group or else Curlypaw will suffer. Furious, Leafstar refuses to betray her values. Tension rises as Dodge’s cats prepare to attack.
Chapter 23 Summary – Warriors Super Edition: Hawkwing’s Journey – The Duel for Curlypaw’s Freedom
Hawkwing challenges Dodge to a one-on-one fight to save Curlypaw and avoid a war. Despite Leafstar’s warnings, the brutal duel begins. Dodge uses his weight to pin Hawkwing, who counters with a kick. They wound each other in a fierce struggle as SkyClan chants Hawkwing’s name. Weakened, Hawkwing draws on memories of past tragedies, including Dodge’s betrayal and the Clan’s fall. With one final blow, he inflicts a fatal wound to Dodge’s neck. Dodge dies, and his followers react angrily, but Harley calms them, reminding them of the pact. Honoring Hawkwing’s victory, they release Curlypaw. Harley proposes peaceful coexistence between the alley cats. As SkyClan departs, Shorty offers to guide them out of danger. The Clan leaves grateful, while Hawkwing is celebrated as a hero for saving them all.
Chapter 24 Summary – Warriors Super Edition: Hawkwing’s Journey – Rest, Reflection, and a Secret Revealed
With Curlypaw safe, SkyClan continues along the river. During a break, Hawkwing trains his apprentice and feels proud. Alongside Blossomheart, he reflects on the journey and their difficulty finding Barley. Bellaleaf recognizes a hill visible from the farm, renewing hope. They finally reach the barn, where Barley welcomes them and offers shelter and food. Amid the calm, Hawkwing’s mother, Cherrytail, announces she will stay behind, unable to continue due to her health and Sharpclaw’s memory. Cloudmist also chooses to stay. Devastated, Hawkwing says goodbye with deep sorrow. Later, while resting in the forest, Hawkwing tries to impress others and falls from a tree, injuring his paw. Ashamed, he retreats, and Pebbleshine comforts him—revealing she’s expecting his kits. Filled with joy and fear, Hawkwing promises to protect his new family and keep the Clan safe, realizing a new chapter in his life has begun.
Chapter 25 Summary – Warriors Super Edition: Hawkwing's Journey – Farewells, Hunger, and Disappearance
SkyClan continues its journey, exhausted. Hawkwing pushes through his injury, while Plumwillow is close to giving birth. Though spirits wane, unity grows. Reaching a valley near a new Twolegplace, Leafstar calls for rest and hunting. Hawkwing joins Pebbleshine, Curlypaw, and others on patrol. Frustrated by a failed rabbit chase, they discover a group of sleeping monsters and a strange scent. Inside one monster, they find trapped chickens. Despite the risk, Pebbleshine suggests they hunt them. While Blossomheart and Waspwhisker climb in, Pebbleshine struggles with a chicken. A Twoleg appears, enters the monster, and it roars to life. Hawkwing yells for her to jump, but she clings to the edge. The monster drives away, and Pebbleshine vanishes inside, screaming something inaudible. Hawkwing gives chase, but can’t reach her. Desperate, he watches the vehicle disappear, taking his mate away before his eyes.
Chapter 26 Summary – Warriors Super Edition: Hawkwing's Journey – The Decision to Move Forward
Hawkwing lies devastated in the shade, consumed by sorrow over losing Pebbleshine. Three sunrises have passed since the monster took her. The Clan waits nearby, hoping for her return, but Hawkwing’s hope fades. Blossomheart offers food, but he refuses. Leafstar and Echosong approach and say they must move on—it’s too dangerous to stay near Twolegs. Hawkwing resists, convinced Pebbleshine will return for him and their kits. Curlypaw also pleads with him. Leafstar and Echosong’s words about his loyalty and bravery stir something in him. Though the pain remains, he knows Pebbleshine would want him to carry on. Finally, he agrees to move forward, eating for the first time in days. As he leaves the place where he last saw her, a haunting question follows him: will he ever see her again?
Chapter 27 Summary – Warriors Super Edition: Hawkwing's Journey – The Valley by the Lake
SkyClan climbs a never-ending slope, Plumwillow close to labor. Hawkwing supports her, burdened by Pebbleshine’s absence and wondering about their kits. Echosong hasn’t dreamed of Pebbleshine but urges faith. At the hill’s summit, the Clan discovers a lush valley with a shining lake surrounded by trees and life. They’re filled with hope this could be their new home. Leafstar sends out scouts. Hawkwing leads a patrol with Curlypaw, Macgyver, Parsleyseed, and Birdwing. The land is rich in prey. Hawkwing helps Curlypaw hone her skills. Macgyver leads them to a protected hollow—an ideal camp. But suspicions rise when they meet Max, a kittypet who hasn’t heard of ThunderClan or other cats. Back at camp, the patrol reports. Though the area seems perfect, Hawkwing and Echosong feel unease: if this is StarClan’s chosen place, where are the other Clans?
Chapter 28 Summary – Warriors Super Edition: Hawkwing's Journey – A Painful Dream to Wake From
Hawkwing dreams he’s with Pebbleshine in the nursery, watching their three newborn kits. The moment is perfect—until a bird’s cry wakes him. Irritated, he joins Blossomheart, Bellaleaf, and Curlypaw to explore the lake’s far side. Though the area is calm and free of humans, Hawkwing remains wary. During training, a massive bird attacks. Curlypaw is nearly taken, but Hawkwing, with Blossomheart and Bellaleaf’s help, saves her after a fierce struggle. Though wounded, they survive. Hawkwing comforts Curlypaw, thinking of his own kits he may never meet. On the way back, Blossomheart encourages him to have hope, reminding him that SkyClan needs faith. Despite lingering pain, Hawkwing begins to accept he must move forward and believe that one day he’ll see Pebbleshine again—and that they’ll find their true home.
Chapter 29 Summary – Warriors Super Edition: Hawkwing's Journey – Between Pain and Hope
A moon has passed since SkyClan settled by the lake. Though the cats enjoy peace, Hawkwing still mourns Pebbleshine. Yet he finds comfort in Curlypaw’s growth and the joy of playing with Plumwillow’s kits. The calm breaks when Echosong and Leafstar argue. Echosong believes StarClan is leading them elsewhere, but Leafstar, weary and craving stability, refuses to leave. That night, Plumwillow goes into labor, but struggles. Hawkwing enters the nursery to support her, sharing his own loss and giving her strength. She births three healthy kits. Grateful, she asks him to help raise them. Hawkwing agrees. Though they can never replace his own children, the love he feels for them gives his life new meaning and deepens his bond with the Clan that needs him more than ever.
Chapter 30 Summary – Warriors Super Edition: Hawkwing's Journey – Echosong’s Decision
At sunset, SkyClan is suddenly attacked by a pack of dogs led by Twolegs. Hawkwing flees with Plumwillow and the kits, hiding in a thorn bush. A dog nearly catches them, but retreats at the sound of distant barking. Back at camp, Clovertail and Firefern are injured, though not seriously. The Clan debates moving, but Leafstar suggests only changing camps. The argument escalates until Echosong announces she will leave the Clan to follow StarClan’s will and search for the true lake where the other Clans live. Bellaleaf and Harrybrook volunteer to join her. Though Hawkwing wants to go, he stays behind out of duty to Curlypaw, Plumwillow, and the kits. At dawn, they say goodbye. Echosong promises to send word if she finds the prophesied place. Before leaving, she reminds Hawkwing to remember who he is. Surrounded by playing kits, Hawkwing realizes that though his journey is far from over, he has found a new reason to keep going.
Chapter 31 Summary – Warriors Super Edition: Hawkwing's Journey – Curlypaw and the Risk of the Kittypets
Hawkwing starts the day suspicious of Curlypaw’s behavior, who offers a flimsy excuse for returning late to camp. As SkyClan tries to adapt to a new location, the threat of Twolegs, their monsters, and their dogs persists. The young warrior Parsleyseed announces his decision to become a kittypet, shocking the Clan. Despite Macgyver’s warnings about that life’s dangers, Parsleyseed leaves the next day. Uneasy, Hawkwing leads a hunting patrol with Sagenose, Blossomheart, and Curlypaw, who proves her skill by catching a rabbit. On the way back, Curlypaw asks to speak privately, but their talk is interrupted by barking—another threat looms. Dogs attack the camp and the kits go missing. Hawkwing and Plumwillow track them to a Twoleg den, where the dogs have them cornered. With courage, they distract the dogs, rescue the kits, and escape. Hawkwing concludes that SkyClan must leave the lake, as it’s no longer a safe place to raise future generations.
Chapter 32 Summary – Warriors Super Edition: Hawkwing's Journey – Curlypaw Makes Her Final Decision
As Hawkwing escorts Curlypaw to her new life with Parsleyseed, he is filled with sadness at her departure. At the edge of a stream, Curlypaw says goodbye, determined to become a kittypet, promising they will still be near even if on different paths. Upon returning, Hawkwing meets with Leafstar and Waspwhisker to propose leaving the lake. He mentions Curlypaw’s departure, the danger to the kits, and the growing presence of Twolegs. Waspwhisker is skeptical, but Leafstar admits she has doubted staying too. They also reveal that Fidgetpaw has lost connection with StarClan since Echosong’s departure, and the younger cats no longer fear Twolegs. Ultimately, Leafstar calls a Clan meeting and announces her decision to leave and search for the other Clans. While some like Sparrowpelt resist, others like Tinycloud and Rileypool are excited. The doubtful cats finally agree. Hawkwing comforts Plumwillow’s kits and prepares for an uncertain journey, driven by the belief that SkyClan can still find its place.
Chapter 33 Summary – Warriors Super Edition: Hawkwing's Journey – Illness Strikes SkyClan
After more than a moon of traveling since leaving the lake, SkyClan settles temporarily in a cold, barren rocky terrain. Spirits are low amid prey scarcity and uncertainty. Things worsen when Macgyver collapses without warning, followed by Blossomheart and Rileypool. Hawkwing tries to help but feels powerless without Echosong and medical knowledge. He and Firefern argue about which herbs to use, but frustration grows with their uncertainty. Days later, Finkit also falls ill after helping care for the adults. Plumwillow wants to stay with him, but Hawkwing urges her to tend to her other kits. Sagenose suggests splitting up to seek help, but Leafstar insists on keeping the Clan united. Soon, Firefern becomes critically ill. Hawkwing fears losing both his sister and Finkit. In desperation, Leafstar makes a painful decision: the Clan will split temporarily. She will stay with the sick, while Hawkwing leads a group of healthy cats to find Echosong, hoping they can still save what remains of SkyClan.
Chapter 34 Summary – Warriors Super Edition: Hawkwing's Journey – Echosong Returns with Hope and Loss
Echosong returns unexpectedly, guided by a vision from StarClan, just as the Clan is about to split. She is welcomed with joy and immediately tends to the sick. Seeing Rileypool, Bellaleaf fears the worst, but Echosong confirms he is still alive, though barely. Examining the herbs used, she finds they were comfrey, not borage—ineffective against fever. Though not harmful, the mistake deepens Hawkwing’s guilt. While she prepares proper remedies, Echosong warns that Rileypool, Firefern, and Finkit are at risk. After tense hours, Rileypool and Firefern pass away, and the Clan mourns them. Finkit, however, begins to recover, offering a glimmer of hope. Still, the Clan is emotionally fractured. Plumwillow confesses she’s lost faith in StarClan, spreading doubt among others. Leafstar insists the Clan must stay united. Amid the debate, Echosong receives another vision: a five-pointed maple leaf, symbol of the five Clans. It reignites hope. The chapter ends with a ray of light in the darkness: SkyClan still has a future.
Chapter 35 Summary – Warriors Super Edition: Hawkwing's Journey – The Path Toward Hope
SkyClan resumes its journey guided by Echosong, crossing a Twolegplace under night’s cover. Though afraid, they pass undetected. They reach a forest with scarce prey. When they finally find a rabbit, a rogue catches it first. Hawkwing tries to negotiate, but the cat mocks them, affirming they are far from their goal. Eventually, they settle in a clearing with bushes and trees. Echosong receives a new vision with a cryptic message: they must “embrace what is found in the shadows.” The vision also shows a five-pointed maple leaf, which Leafstar interprets as a sign of the five Clans. Hope is renewed. Leafstar names Dewkit, Finkit, and Reedkit as apprentices—Dewpaw, Finkpaw, and Reedpaw—marking a hopeful step toward the future. Though Hawkwing feels sadness as the kits no longer see him as a father figure, he encourages them with love. A final conversation with Echosong reveals a possible vision of his daughter, igniting Hawkwing’s hope that Pebbleshine and their kits may still be alive, waiting for him.

FAQs – Chapter by Chapter Summary – Warrior Cats: Hawkwing’s Journey
What internal conflict defines Hawkwing after Duskpaw’s death, and how does it reshape his arc?
Hawkwing cannot forgive himself for saving Pebblepaw first during the fire. That moment becomes the lens through which he reads every choice: he overcorrects, doubts his instincts, and turns care for apprentices and kits into a personal vow. Guilt pushes him toward risky decisions and makes apologies harder yet more meaningful when they come. The arc that follows is not about being the fiercest warrior in battle, but about learning to hold the Clan together while he feels broken—choosing responsibility over self‑punishment and letting love, not shame, define his next steps.
How does Darktail manipulate SkyClan before openly betraying them, and what are the immediate consequences?
Darktail arrives as a helpful outsider—competent in fights, soft‑spoken, eager to earn trust. In the background, he salts the forest with Twoleg food and lures raccoons, stretching patrols thin. The mask drops during the night assault: he kills Bouncefire in full view and, with Rain, cuts down Sharpclaw. The camp falls, the storm swells, and SkyClan is forced to scatter with injured cats and terrified kits. The loss is more than territory; it’s a tear in the Clan’s faith in itself. From that point on, every step is taken with the knowledge that hospitality can be weaponized.
What does Skystar’s prophecy actually point to, beyond Firestar’s legacy?
“When the fire dies, find the spark that remains” isn’t nostalgia for Firestar; it’s a survival rule. The “spark” is whatever fragile thing still protects tomorrow: a kit saved in the rain, an apprentice mentored well, a chance to rejoin the Clans by a wide, calm lake. The prophecy doesn’t hand over coordinates—it clarifies priorities. After fire and betrayal, SkyClan must choose community over pride, motion over paralysis, and a future next to the other Clans rather than clinging to a gorge that has become a grave. It’s less about who they were and more about who they can keep alive.
Why is the duel with Dodge pivotal for Hawkwing’s leadership and SkyClan’s survival?
Facing Dodge to free Curlypaw is Hawkwing stepping into accountable courage—risking his life to prevent a wider bloodbath. The fight is brutal, but it reframes power in the Twolegplace: honor can still dictate terms among rogues. By winning, Hawkwing secures Curlypaw’s release, earns breathing room for the Clan, and proves to himself that action guided by care—not anger—changes outcomes. The duel also severs an old debt: SkyClan moves on without dragging Dodge’s shadow. It’s a hinge scene where survival, mentorship, and moral clarity align, preparing Hawkwing to carry new weight on the road ahead.
How do Pebbleshine’s pregnancy and disappearance reframe the book’s themes of hope and loss?
Pebbleshine’s news gives Hawkwing a future to fight for; her sudden capture inside a Twoleg “monster” turns that hope into an ache that travels with the Clan. Instead of collapsing into despair, Hawkwing channels love into service: training Curlypaw, guarding Plumwillow’s kits, and staying with those who need him. The story insists that grief and hope coexist—that you can mourn what’s missing while protecting what remains. Pebbleshine’s absence doesn’t empty the narrative; it deepens its stakes. Every camp chosen, every path avoided, is measured against the possibility that one day their kits will need a place safe enough to grow.
