Prologue Summary – Warrior Cats: The Forgotten Warrior – The Traveler’s Return

A lone cat emerges from a forest and crosses a meadow under the warm newleaf sun, heading toward a grove beyond a series of hills. As he moves cautiously, he is intercepted by a rough gray tom with a torn ear, who claims the territory and threatens him for approaching his prey source. The traveler, unfazed, states he is merely passing through, arousing suspicion from the other, who mentions having seen cats from the lake before. The traveler avoids direct answers but admits he knows the way well. After refusing to fight, he enters the forest but fails to find a suitable place to rest, driven by a restless feeling. At last, he climbs a hill and looks over the lake, painted red by the sunset, as the first stars of StarClan appear in the sky. With determination, he silently declares that he has returned—and that vengeance is about to begin.

Chapter 1 Summary – Warrior Cats: The Forgotten Warrior – Echoes of the Past in Jayfeather’s Skin

Jayfeather wakes uneasily, shaken by dreams of snow-covered mountains and the painful image of a green-eyed white she-cat watching him with sorrow before walking away. Though he tries to stay grounded in his life in ThunderClan, a sense of loss lingers. Briarlight, his helper in the herb store, encourages him to continue with his tasks, and while discussing marigold supplies, she unknowingly gives him a tuft of Hollyleaf’s fur. The scent revives old memories and emotions that Jayfeather quickly hides. Later, Bumblestripe expresses concern over Dovewing’s troubling dreams, and Jayfeather explains there are no herbs to forget. Dovewing and Ivypool arrive visibly shaken by their respective nighttime experiences—one haunted by the past and the other by her training in the Dark Forest. As the camp resumes its routine, Jayfeather reflects on the new prophecy: the three must become four to face an everlasting darkness.

Chapter 2 Summary – Warrior Cats: The Forgotten Warrior – Mystery Among the Marigold Roots

Ivypool feels drained after brutal training in the Dark Forest, where Hawkfrost pushes her to the edge. While gathering moss with Dovewing and Whitewing, she notices her sister still hasn’t fully regained her senses. Dovewing’s anxiety is clear, fearing uselessness without her abilities. The group runs into Jayfeather, who is searching for marigold. Ivypool joins him at the clearing where the herb usually grows, but it’s been ravaged, likely by rabbits. Ivypool then finds a living marigold plant tucked in a tree hollow, stored in an unusual way. Jayfeather suspects squirrels, though the situation makes little sense. At Ivypool’s suggestion, they collect fox dung to repel the rabbits and protect the plants. During this task, Birchfall admits he trains in the Dark Forest, unsettling Ivypool. Torn between duty and family, she helps mark the area with fox scent, dreading the consequences.

Chapter 3 Summary – Warrior Cats: The Forgotten Warrior – Shadows of the Past and the Rumor of Vengeance

Dovewing gathers moss with Whitewing but can’t shake recurring nightmares of Swoop and the eagle attack. Her mother tries to comfort her, concerned about the heavy burden Dovewing carries at such a young age. Though she tries to appear strong, Dovewing fears she’s lost her gift. While Whitewing returns to camp, Dovewing joins a hunting patrol. She enjoys the run and play, feeling free in her body, though her senses remain dulled. During the hunt, an unexpected encounter with Tigerheart stirs old feelings. He warns her that Dawnpelt blames Jayfeather for Flametail’s death and may seek revenge. Dovewing, angry, rebuffs him but is left troubled by the warning. Though she catches a squirrel, her mind stays with Tigerheart and the looming threat sparked by false rumors. She wonders if ThunderClan’s stability is more fragile than it seems.

Chapter 4 Summary – Warrior Cats: The Forgotten Warrior – Two New Paws in the Clan

Lionblaze returns from training with Blossomfall and Foxleap, praising their growth as warriors. Sorreltail bursts into camp with her patrol, reporting a skirmish with WindClan, where Birchfall clashed with Breezepelt and Heathertail over washing his paws in a shared stream. Firestar diffuses the conflict while kits like Molekit and Cherrykit watch excitedly. During a Clan meeting, Firestar announces that the kits will become apprentices, assigning Foxleap and Rosepetal as mentors. Cherrykit eagerly accepts her new role as Cherrypaw, while Molekit hesitates until Rosepetal promises fun training before chores. Brackenfur reveals that Sorreltail is expecting kits, bringing joy to the Clan. However, Lionblaze becomes suspicious of Birchfall and Breezepelt’s connection, pressing Ivypool for answers about the Dark Forest. The argument escalates until Dovewing intervenes. Dovewing then confesses to Lionblaze that she’s lost her sensory power, casting doubt on the prophecy’s future.

Chapter 5 Summary – Warrior Cats: The Forgotten Warrior – Shadows on the Cliff

Jayfeather welcomes Cherrypaw and Molepaw to his den, where they bring cobwebs collected with Sandstorm. As Briarlight cleans them off, Jayfeather reflects on his usefulness. When the apprentices leave to train with Brightheart, a patrol returns saying WindClan is uneasy about a supposed intrusion. Jayfeather focuses on Sorreltail, detecting stiffness in her hips but no major issues. Suddenly, the camp is alarmed by a fight: a fox has attacked near the cliff. Cherrypaw and Molepaw claim a mysterious cat saved them. Though Firestar and others didn’t see anyone, Jayfeather explores Molepaw’s memory and confirms the presence of an unknown figure who scared off the fox. Despite uncertainty, Jayfeather and Lionblaze suspect the she-cat could be Hollyleaf. Meanwhile, Dovewing, exhausted, struggles with the pressure she feels. Ivypool confesses to having used fox dung, possibly attracting the attacker. The Clan is split between fear and doubt as Jayfeather senses a revelation approaching.

Chapter 6 Summary – Warrior Cats: The Forgotten Warrior – Allies and Dangers of the Dark Forest

Ivypool endures brutal training in the Dark Forest, climbing a dangerous tree while Shredtail and Antpelt cruelly oversee her. Forced to leap from a great height, she falls and is attacked by Antpelt, who forgets she once helped him before his death. After a violent fight, she joins a battle drill with Hollowpaw, Breezepelt, and Minnowtail, noting their seamless unity like a single Clan. Upon waking, she joins ThunderClan for the Gathering, glad to avoid the Dark Forest for one night. At the event, Mistystar announces Hollowpaw’s new warrior name: Hollowflight. Firestar mentions a fox threat without saying how it was driven off. Onestar accuses ThunderClan of invading territory, but Firestar counters calmly. Ivypool senses rising tensions between Clans, and a glance from Minnowtail rekindles her inner conflict about belonging to two worlds—her Clan and the Dark Forest that’s increasingly entrapping her.

Chapter 7 Summary – Warrior Cats: The Forgotten Warrior – The Unexpected Return of Sol

Lionblaze, after discussing a possible intruder with Firestar and Brambleclaw, ventures out alone to investigate. He finds signs of meticulous hunting near the WindClan border, leading to a rocky hideout. Just as he’s about to enter, a voice stops him—it’s Sol, the mysterious cat with a dark past. Shocked and wary, Lionblaze escorts him to camp, where his arrival causes uproar. Several warriors, including Cloudtail and Dustpelt, confront him, but Poppyfrost recognizes him as the one who saved the apprentices from the fox. Grateful, she defends him, and Firestar allows him to stay the night. As Sol becomes the center of attention, spinning wild tales, Lionblaze and Jayfeather remain deeply suspicious. They believe Sol’s intentions are far from pure and fear he is hiding a darker plan that could destabilize the Clan from within.

Chapter 8 Summary – Warrior Cats: The Forgotten Warrior – Under the Stars with Bumblestripe

Dovewing returns to camp and is surprised to find Sol surrounded by admirers. Though many praise him for saving the apprentices, Firestar and other seniors remain skeptical. Dovewing talks to Ivypool about the rumor that Dawnpelt seeks revenge on Jayfeather, but decides not to dwell on it. During a communal dinner, Sol tells exaggerated stories that captivate the younger cats. Later, Bumblestripe invites Dovewing for a walk. Initially hesitant, she follows him. During their stroll, her senses flicker back, giving her hope. They share a tender moment beneath a jasmine vine, where Bumblestripe reveals a secret lookout to gaze at the stars. They talk about their ancestors and fondly recall past adventures. Though it’s not a forbidden love like what she had with Tigerheart, Dovewing feels happy and safe. Back at training with Lionblaze, she proves her powers have returned, and together they quietly rejoice in the balance being restored.

Chapter 9 Summary – Warrior Cats: The Forgotten Warrior – The Past Reborn in Jayfeather’s Dreams

Jayfeather is visited in a dream by Yellowfang, who says ThunderClan needs a new medicine cat and suggests awakening Cinderheart’s memories—she is the reincarnation of Cinderpelt. Despite his hesitation, Jayfeather promises to try. Upon waking, he is unsettled by Sol’s growing influence over the apprentices. Later, Daisy alerts him to Sorreltail’s health; Jayfeather finds that her overexertion is putting her unborn kits at risk. He convinces her to move to the nursery, relieved to have protected both her and the future kits. Later, Leafpool takes him to the forest and begs him not to tell Cinderheart the truth, believing StarClan gave her a second life to live as a warrior and mother. Torn between reason and emotion, Jayfeather agrees to wait. When he finally sees Cinderheart, he lies, postponing the revelation of who she once was.

Chapter 10 Summary – Warrior Cats: The Forgotten Warrior – Conspiracies in the Dark and Doubt Over Sol

In the Dark Forest, Ivypool overhears a chilling conversation between Mapleshade and Tigerheart, declaring the Dark Forest will crush the Clans and rule over StarClan. Terrified, she hides undetected. Later, she confronts Tigerheart about Dawnpelt and Flametail, who accuses her of trying to harm his brother’s spirit. When she asks Hawkfrost about Sol, he cryptically says Sol is welcome in ThunderClan, increasing her suspicions. Upon waking, Ivypool patrols with her Clan and finds Sol near the border, claiming he’s visiting ShadowClan. Though Millie confronts him, he leaves unhindered. Back at camp, Millie reports the encounter and Brambleclaw reacts angrily, fearing Sol might betray secrets. Firestar urges caution, suggesting they monitor him. When Dovewing hears the report, she asks if Sol is tied to the Dark Forest. Ivypool reveals that Hawkfrost implied he was, and the two agree Sol is a threat that must be watched closely.

Chapter 11 Summary – Warrior Cats: The Forgotten Warrior – Tension on the WindClan Border

As the sun began to set, Lionblaze led a patrol to the WindClan border, accompanied by Graystripe, Spiderleg, and Blossomfall. Though the forest seemed calm, the atmosphere grew tense when they encountered a group led by Onestar, who demanded that Sol be expelled from ThunderClan’s camp. Lionblaze’s refusal provoked a direct threat from WindClan, but Graystripe intervened firmly, recalling old bonds between leaders. Back at camp, Sol was warmly received by several young warriors, who were fascinated by his stories and dismissed WindClan’s threat. However, Ivypool clearly expressed her disapproval, showing that not everyone trusted Sol. Lionblaze, worried, realized that Onestar’s pressure had forced Firestar to keep Sol in the Clan only out of honor. Now, ThunderClan was forced to support an unwanted outsider simply to avoid yielding to another Clan’s demand.

Chapter 12 Summary – Warrior Cats: The Forgotten Warrior – Sorreltail’s Birth in the Forest

Dovewing awoke startled by a disturbing dream of Sorreltail screaming for help outside the camp. Without delay, she alerted Jayfeather and led him to the forest, where they found Sorreltail in labor near the lake. As Brackenfur, Ferncloud, and others arrived to protect her, Dovewing returned for herbs with Briarlight’s help. Upon their return, Jayfeather instructed her to prepare remedies for the pain. After much effort and painful spasms, Sorreltail gave birth to two tiny kits. Though both appeared weak, Ferncloud and Daisy’s care helped them begin to move and nurse. Back at camp, Sorreltail was settled into the nursery. Meanwhile, an exhausted Dovewing had another nightmare, this time of an eagle snatching two kits. Upon waking, she was deeply disturbed. Later, she secretly discovered that Sol was manipulating several young warriors to attack WindClan without Firestar’s permission.

Chapter 13 Summary – Warrior Cats: The Forgotten Warrior – Discovery in the Underground Tunnels

Alarmed by Sol’s schemes, Dovewing and Ivypool tracked him to a cliffside area where they found an entrance to underground tunnels. Following Sol’s faint trail, they ventured into the darkness seeking proof. As they blindly advanced, Dovewing heard voices: Sol was speaking to WindClan warriors, promising them secret access to ThunderClan through the tunnels. As they tried to retreat unnoticed, a noise gave them away. During their escape, a mysterious figure saved them—it was Hollyleaf, long thought dead. With no time to explain, she guided them through secret paths to safety. Outside, under the moonlight, Lionblaze appeared and stopped Hollyleaf with a trembling voice, pleading with her not to vanish again. Hollyleaf’s return was a shocking revelation for her sisters, who could barely believe she was alive and had just saved their lives.

Chapter 14 Summary – Warrior Cats: The Forgotten Warrior – Hollyleaf’s Return to Camp

When Ivypool and Dovewing didn’t return by dawn, panic spread through ThunderClan. Several patrols were sent out, fearing WindClan had captured them. Jayfeather, anxious but without evidence, tried to reassure himself they were safe. Eventually, Lionblaze returned to camp with both sisters—and Hollyleaf. The shock was immediate. Warriors crowded around the long-lost she-cat with questions, stunned she had survived. Hollyleaf explained she had lived alone, hunting outside the territory and staying underground. Later, in a private meeting with Jayfeather and Lionblaze, she confessed with sorrow that she had killed Ashfur, once convinced it was the right thing to do. Jayfeather confronted her for making them believe she was dead, but their sibling bond endured. Still burdened with guilt, Hollyleaf offered to stay and help with the threat Sol posed. Jayfeather, unsettled, sought guidance from StarClan and dreamed of Bluestar, who spoke to him of justice and redemption.

Chapter 15 Summary – Warrior Cats: The Forgotten Warrior – The Truth About Ashfur’s Death

As the camp struggled to process Hollyleaf’s return, Brambleclaw organized patrols, avoiding mention of Sol’s betrayal. Though many distrusted Hollyleaf, true tension arose when Toadstep and other warriors voiced concerns about her past. Suspicion peaked when Thornclaw implied she may have been responsible for Ashfur’s death. Under pressure, Hollyleaf confessed, explaining that Ashfur had tried to harm her as revenge against Squirrelflight. Silence followed until Brambleclaw stepped in, claiming to have witnessed the confrontation and stating Ashfur’s fall was accidental. Some, like Dustpelt and Poppyfrost, defended Hollyleaf, grateful for her saving the apprentices from the fox. Firestar declared there would be no punishment, as Hollyleaf’s isolation was enough. Though the confession divided the Clan, Firestar allowed her to stay. Devastated but thankful, Hollyleaf agreed to start anew, while Lionblaze wondered if the Clan could ever truly forgive her.

Chapter 16 Summary – Warrior Cats: The Forgotten Warrior – Spying in WindClan Territory

Dovewing, still reeling from the revelation about Hollyleaf, reflected on her absence in the prophecy due to Ashfur’s murder. Firestar summoned her and asked her to use her special senses to spy on WindClan. Proud to fulfill the task, Dovewing tuned into the enemy camp, where Onestar warned of ThunderClan intrusions but didn’t mention Sol. Though she tried to locate the outsider, she sensed nothing in the territory or tunnels. Back at camp, Bumblestripe awaited her for training with Brambleclaw and other warriors. During the session, Blossomfall grew jealous when Bumblestripe chose Dovewing as a partner, creating tension. Hurt by Blossomfall’s comments, Dovewing was comforted by Bumblestripe, who hinted he wanted more than friendship. Though still haunted by memories of Tigerheart, Dovewing began to imagine a future with Bumblestripe.

Chapter 17 Summary – Warrior Cats: The Forgotten Warrior – Painful Revelations from the Past

Jayfeather returned from the Moonpool and was called by Mousefur, who spoke of Brambleclaw’s public defense of Hollyleaf. The elder confronted Jayfeather about his silence regarding Ashfur’s murder, acknowledging his reasons but noting the damage caused. She then confessed fears about the approaching darkness and troubling dreams foretelling the Clans’ end. Jayfeather tried to reassure her, vowing to protect the Clan. Later, he spoke with Hollyleaf about the confession and Brambleclaw’s gesture of support. Jayfeather admitted he missed her, and Hollyleaf, moved, expressed her fear of returning only to do more harm. Meanwhile, a hunting patrol returned to camp, and Lionblaze vented frustration over being rejected by Cinderheart due to his destiny. That night, Jayfeather entered Cinderheart’s dreams with a clear purpose: to show her who she truly was and reveal a hidden truth.

Chapter 18 Summary – Warrior Cats: The Forgotten Warrior – Cinderpelt Reborn in Cinderheart’s Dreams

In a dream, Jayfeather led Cinderheart through her past life, beginning with a vision of ThunderClan’s old camp. There, Cinderpelt—her former self—gathered herbs, displayed medical knowledge, and helped injured warriors under Yellowfang’s guidance. Cinderheart watched silently, stunned by the connection. The journey continued through the Clans’ great migration to the lake, showing Cinderpelt’s compassion and strength. Finally, Jayfeather brought her to the most painful memory: the badger attack where Cinderpelt died protecting Sorreltail as she gave birth. Cinderheart realized that her death marked her rebirth—she was the kit born in that very moment. When Jayfeather revealed StarClan had given her a new life to be a warrior, not a medicine cat, Cinderheart was overwhelmed by memories and emotions. Tearfully, she said goodbye to her past and returned to the present.

Chapter 19 Summary – Warrior Cats: The Forgotten Warrior – Cinderheart Faces Her Own Truth

While patrolling near the WindClan border, Lionblaze noticed Cinderheart acting distracted and distant. When he tried to speak with her, she responded with anger, reflecting her inner turmoil after remembering her life as Cinderpelt. Upon returning, the camp was in chaos: Mousewhisker and Cherrypaw were writhing in pain from mistaking water hemlock for parsley. With Jayfeather absent, Cinderheart took charge, using her medical knowledge to save them. Lionblaze and Leafpool were shocked by her skills, confirming she remembered her past life. Under pressure, Cinderheart lashed out at Leafpool and Jayfeather for hiding the truth. Distraught, she fled the camp, and Lionblaze followed. He found her hiding, devastated by her identity crisis. She confessed that, as Cinderpelt, she had also loved someone she couldn’t be with. Lionblaze shared her pain but didn’t know how to comfort her. Later, Squirrelflight spoke with him, offering an honest perspective on love and acceptance.

Chapter 20 Summary – Warrior Cats: The Forgotten Warrior – Preparing for War with WindClan

Firestar gathered the Clan to announce that Sol had betrayed ThunderClan, aligning with WindClan to attack. The news sparked outrage, especially among warriors who had been deceived by Sol. Though some demanded immediate retaliation, Firestar insisted on defending from within their forest territory, using it to their advantage. Brambleclaw organized patrols and ordered strategic tunnel blockages. Then Hollyleaf spoke up, suggesting only the distant tunnels be blocked to better control enemy movement. Surprised by her leadership, Brambleclaw accepted her plan and asked her to train warriors in underground combat. Spiderleg questioned her reinstatement as a warrior, but Hollyleaf defended her experience and skill. Meanwhile, Dovewing and Ivypool were assigned to her training group, aware of what lay ahead. Despite tensions, ThunderClan began preparing for the coming battle, trusting Hollyleaf’s experience, Dovewing’s gifts, and the Clan’s unity to face the looming threat.

Chapter 21 Summary – Warrior Cats: The Forgotten Warrior – Training in the Mountain Tunnels

Hollyleaf led a group of warriors into the secret tunnels where she had lived in exile. Although Thornclaw was reluctant to enter, Hollyleaf calmly reassured him, stating she knew every corner of the dark labyrinth. During the exploration, she taught underground combat techniques, emphasizing the importance of keeping movements short to avoid hitting the walls. The cats practiced eagerly, including Dovewing and Ivypool. Brightheart offered valuable tips on how to fight with limited vision. Each cat was taken deep into the tunnel to find their way back using only hearing and smell. Though Toadstep got lost, Hollyleaf helped him return, teaching them to stay calm in darkness. Upon exiting, the group reflected on future strategies like ambushes and secret signals, excited by the advantage they would have against WindClan. Toadstep expressed his confidence in the Clan’s readiness, shouting defiantly toward the border, “We’re ready!”

Chapter 22 Summary – Warrior Cats: The Forgotten Warrior – Confusion and Memories at Dusk

Back at camp, Dovewing and Ivypool joined Bumblestripe and Foxleap to share a hearty fox meal. They talked about the intense underground training with Hollyleaf, noting how difficult and strategic tunnel combat was. The conversation turned to Cinderheart, who had chosen to stay with Jayfeather in the medicine den, raising questions about her true identity. Sorreltail and Brackenfur tried to understand why StarClan had brought her back as Cinderpelt, but Jayfeather had no answers. Cinderheart, confused, asked if she should sleep in the medicine den, while Briarlight and others debated the limited space. Firestar sought solutions to expand the den without displacing Briarlight. Later, Hollyleaf shared memories of an incident with Lionblaze, Breezepelt, and Purdy at a farm during her mountain journey. Ivypool noticed Lionblaze’s sadness watching Cinderheart abandon the warrior life, sensing he longed to be her mate. Cinderheart’s decision deeply affected the entire Clan.

Chapter 23 Summary – Warrior Cats: The Forgotten Warrior – Chaos at the Gathering and the Accusation Against Jayfeather

During the Gathering, Firestar officially announced Hollyleaf’s return without mentioning Sol or the tensions with WindClan. Hollyleaf was met with surprise and some hostile remarks, but Firestar defended her as a loyal warrior. The event turned chaotic when Dawnpelt publicly accused Jayfeather of murdering her brother, Flametail. The accusation triggered a wave of shouting and tension among the Clans. Jayfeather calmly defended himself, saying he had tried to save Flametail, not kill him. Though Firestar supported him, the other leaders, pressured by their Clans, proposed suspending Jayfeather. The medicine cats debated and agreed to this measure to preserve peace, angering Jayfeather, who refused to step down. Suddenly, a storm broke with a lightning strike and a loud crash that darkened the moon—a sign of StarClan’s anger. The Gathering ended in chaos, with Clans clashing and fleeing in the rain, while Lionblaze feared the true enemy would exploit the growing divide among the Clans.

Chapter 24 Summary – Warrior Cats: The Forgotten Warrior – Dreams with Yellowfang and Cinderheart’s Conflict

Jayfeather returned from the Gathering confused and drained, guided through the storm by Squirrelflight. Though Firestar reaffirmed the Clan’s support, Jayfeather felt overwhelmed by the widespread suspicion. In his dreams, he was visited by Yellowfang, who confirmed that StarClan did not believe he had killed Flametail. However, she also scolded him for allowing Cinderheart to stop being a warrior. Though she had once advised him to reveal her identity as Cinderpelt, she admitted this was a mistake—her destiny was to be a warrior. Jayfeather defended Cinderheart and Leafpool’s use of healing skills, even if they were no longer official medicine cats. Yellowfang relented, acknowledging Cinderheart should choose her own path. Upon waking, Jayfeather met with her by the lake and assured her StarClan had given her the freedom to decide. Cinderheart confessed her love for Lionblaze and her confusion. Jayfeather encouraged her to pursue happiness, reminding her that duty could be fulfilled in many ways.

Chapter 25 Summary – Warrior Cats: The Forgotten Warrior – Battle in the Tunnels Against WindClan

Dovewing awoke alarmed, sensing Sol leading a WindClan group through the tunnels to attack. She warned Firestar, who gathered the Clan and organized patrols under Brambleclaw, Brackenfur, and Hollyleaf. Dovewing and Ivypool joined Hollyleaf’s group, along with Cinderheart, who reaffirmed her choice to fight as a warrior. Inside the tunnels, WindClan was ambushed and driven toward the river cavern. The battle was fierce; Dovewing faced Breezepelt, who nearly defeated her, but Ivypool intervened and saved her. As WindClan cats fled, Sol appeared, urging them to keep fighting. Hollyleaf confronted him in a tunnel, defeating him with skills honed during exile. Though she had the chance to kill him, she spared him, remembering the warrior code. Sol fled, leaving ThunderClan victorious but exhausted. Dovewing sensed the real conflict was just beginning: the true threat was the disunity among the Clans as the war with the Dark Forest loomed.
